Lothian Leyland Atlantean MSF465P acquired.

Several group members purchased Lothian Atlantean MSF465P early last week.

Unfortunately it has now been deemed beyond economical repair.
It was thought the vehicle could have been a relatively easy and quick restoration putting another Atlantean back on the road.

465 is now sadly being reduced to spare parts and instead will live on through the Tyne and Wear examples providing parts to keep them going for many years.

Sunderland Crossley acquired for preservation.

Group members Keith Buckley and Vince Minto have purchased Sunderland Crossley halfcab ABR433.
100 was new in 1949 to Sunderland Coporation Transport.
100 was withdrawn on the 30th of April 1962.

EJR129W arrives home after a decade away!

3529 arrived back safe and sound via Allways garage services Scania wrecker this morning.
Mick Ward, the new owner has now decided to restore the bus into Coastline livery and hopes to start work on the restoration in the next few weeks.

Return trip to Kent 8th Feb 2011 sees EJR129W running again!

Some members of the group made a return journey to Kent yesterday to make ready EJR129W for its eagerly awaited return to Tyneside.
The bus has been cleared out as it been in use as a store shed for a number of years and Fred even managed to get it up and running again.
129 has not been run for nearly 10 years and started after 5 turns of the starter motor!

We have contracted the job to Allways garage services who will be returning the Atlantean back to Tyneside on suspended tow on the 19th of February 2011.

The Brecks buster tour of Rotherham, Sunday 20th February 2011.

We are pleased to announce another trip with Leo's bus and coach tours.
This event sees us travelling to Rotherham to sample Brecks international's MCW Metrobuses.

To keep in with the theme, Lee Garrett of the Northern General preservation group has kindly offered to use Northern Metrobus UTN501Y 3501 for the event.
He has asked for a donation towards the fuel costs for anyone wishing to travel with us.

We will be leaving the following pick up points:
Newcastle Central station at 0740 calling at Heworth metro 0755 then onto Washington Services 0810 and Durham at 0830.
*If you wish to travel with us then please be on time as we have a tight schedule to be in Rotherham for 11:30 to meet Leo and the team*

Tour details taken from Leo's bus and coach tours page:
This will involve the use of 3 ex Travel West Midlands MCW Metrobuses, these will be GOG104W, GOG270W and B786AOC which are being provided by "Brecks International" of Rotherham.

The fares for the tour will be £10 for adults and £7.50 for concessionary pass holders and we will start from outside the "Bridge Inn" pub (close to Rotherham Central rail station) at 12:00 were we will undertake a number of journeys around the local area.

K134SRH is now under the ownership of the TWBPL.
The group collected the vehicle from the Walkergate depot earlier this evening.

We would like to Thank everyone at Stagecoach for very kindly donating the bus for us to use as an ancillary vehicle to help with the collection of parts and setting up sales stalls at rallies.

Leyland Atlantean EJR129W secured for preservation.

New group members Micky Ward and Mark Mckenzie along with committee member Fred Mckale have secured Leyland Atlantean EJR129W for preservation.

We hope to have 129 towed back to Tyneside in the next 2 to 3 weeks.
129 has been laid up for around 10 years now due to an angle drive fault which resulted in the bus losing drive altogether.

It is most likely to be the sole survivor of the EJR-W batch of Atlanteans to retain its Dual Purpose coach seating which is 1 of the reasons why the bus had to be saved from the scrap man so watch out for more updates and photos very soon.

We shall be taking some photos of the bus when the current owners have removed all the rubbish from around it.

Daimler Fleetline OCU807R acquired.

Tyne and wear bus preservation group members Vince Minto and Keith Buckley have acquired OCU807R.

Ex T&W PTE/Sunderland Busways/Stagecoach Alexander Al bodied Daimler Fleetline OCU807R arrived in its new home earlier today having been acquired from NEBPT members David Marshall, Ian Alderson and Trevor Hines.

The plan is to restore the bus into the Sunderland Corporation livery which it wore in 1979 to celebrate 100 years of Sunderland Corporation.
